Victorian fireplace complete.

 

Victorian mahogany surround with fine carving and brass inlay, complete with a pair of majolica figural tiles of popular Dickensian characters made by Sherwin & Cotton, an early work by designer George Cartlidge, this pair are a precursor to his famous Emaux Ombrants tile portraits. The iron insert has an adjustable hood with inset copper decoration. A very unusual fireplace. 61''wide x 52''high.
